For the second year in a row, Ottawa Valley Waste Recovery Centre (OVWRC) will remain open longer hours on Thursdays.  Until August 26th, the Centre will be open until 6:00 p.m. on Thursdays.

Sue McCrae, OVWRC General Manager explains the decision for extended Thursday hours.  “In 2019, the Ottawa Valley Waste Management Board reviewed our operating hours and incoming traffic at the Centre. Traffic studies revealed that customers may benefit from extended week day hours to reduce scale wait times during peak days such as Saturday.”

The duration of the Centre’s summer hours has also been extended. After experiencing significant traffic volumes well into last November, the Waste Management Board approved staff’s recommendation to extend longer summer hours until October 31st.

“We are pleased to be able to provide these extended hours in order for our commercial and residential customers to have more opportunities to visit the Centre.” Comments Laurentian Valley Mayor Steve Bennett, Chair of the Ottawa Valley Waste Management Board.  “And the Centre has been able to schedule the additional hours of operation with existing staff levels.”
