At their November 27, 2025 meeting, the Ottawa Valley Waste Management Board approved the Centre’s 2026 Tipping Fees, directing staff to increase all fees by $5.00/tonne. The minimum fees were also increased by $5.00. This more accurately reflects the increasing costs to manage landfill waste, specifically ongoing landfill leachate treatment system expansion and construction.
Fees for Paper and Container Recycling and Corrugated Cardboard are set by Emterra Environmental, who lease and operate the Recycling Facility at OVWRC under Ontario’s Extended Producer Responsibility program. In anticipation of possible increases to recycling tipping fees, OVWRC has added an additional Unsorted Load Fee specifically for landfill loads that include container recycling. This is meant to deter customers from placing container recycling in the garbage. The higher fee would be charged on landfill (garbage) loads that have significant amounts of container recycling (bottles, cans, plastics) mixed with garbage. The approved rate is $500/tonne or minimum fee of $100 (under 175 kgs).
